The National University of Modern Languages was established in 1970 as an institution to enable people to communicate and understand each other in various oriental and western languages, assimilate different cultures and to act as a springboard for emerging disciplines. It was upgraded to a university on May 29, 2000. In achieving this benchmark of a fully autonomous university, it has overcome many hurdles and achieved the status of the seat of learning while contributing new knowledge to the local and global perspective and now teaches 27 oriental and western many emerging languages other than subjects. Now, the university has a vibrant and well-grounded research programmed, offering MS/MPhil and PhD research degrees in various disciplines.
The university has more than 500 qualified faculty members to manage teaching and research activities in various disciplines. The university campus consists of five multistoried academic blocks and one IT block. It has four hostels for the accommodation of the students.
