According to General Cunningham and Captain H. Mackenzie, the construction of the existing walls of Gujarat is attributed to a Gujjar Ali Khan on the ruins of Adnagri, whose name bears a striking resemblance to that of Raja Alhana of Gujjar. Between 883 and AD 901, defeated by Sangakkara, during the reign of Mughal Emperor Akbar the Great, Gujarat was restored as a bazaar and military base. During British rule, Gujarat was made the district headquarters.
The college attracted students from Attic, Jhelum, Mianwali, and Sargodha districts as well as Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Gujarat. The Zamindar Educational Association established a high school in 1921 and a zamindar college in 1937. For this reason, Gujarat was declared the province of Punjab in Greece.
